The first name of this hotel was “hotel de las libertades”. So, for Jean Nouvel it’s was a good opportunity to develop this theme: from liberty to “libertinage”…
And he decides to create in each room one world of fantasy, inventing a different story of a different woman each time with a different context, different landscape….at this moment, he invites two famous photographer on this subject: Alain Fleischer and Nobyuoshi Araki.
Jean Nouvel proposes all a sensitive world of picture around the photographies of this artist.
(On the ceiling, on the wall, behind the bed, under the dressing…)
When Jean Nouvel develops this kind of aesthetic, he need material, furniture, and finishing’s very coherent for the treatment of all the functionality of the room…
Rooms are organized by 4 sliding panels: the two main sliding glassed doors (parallel to the façade) are printed with 2 photographies of Fleischer and Araki, the two other are a sliding “Antelio” glassed door and a sliding opaque door with LG product on a face and printed wall paper on the other face.
So, the space is very free, you can open your bedroom with your bathroom, your lounge with your bathroom…your bedroom with your lounge…
To answer to this concept, LG product was a very complete solution…
You can choose the finishing, polished, matt, brilled, brushed…to hide all the join and create the general coherence, the continuity of the wall and all that it is integrated….
The cupboard, the basin, the storage, the shower, the bathtub…all this element with the same attitude, the same material…this is that it’s interessant…
The idea it’s to create only one aesthetic, one vocabulary of design of the functionality of the room …and you can establish this “support” very logical and propose a “homogenise” universe…
Around this “homogenise” universe….you can invent all that you want …here, it’s the exhibition of photography that show “libertinage”, ”nudity”, ”sexual and sensual attitude”………
That Jean Nouvel appreciate it’s to create a coherent system very flexible, very uniformed to integrated in a same aesthetic, in a same vocabulary of texture….all the volume, all the function….of an interior space.
